Overview and Thoughts
Hey everyone! We’re in the midst of planning our 2025 vacation! Originally, we had our hearts set on Greece, but due to some health concerns, we decided to postpone that trip for the future. Wanting to stick with the idea of an island getaway, we shifted our focus to the U.S. Virgin Islands. We were all set to start planning and even convinced Nick’s brother and his fiancée to join us.
However, with the unexpected passing of Nick’s uncle, a new idea for our 2025 trip has taken shape.
We've decided to take an unforgettable journey along Route 66! So, how does Nick’s uncle tie into this? He used to live and work in Winslow, AZ, and often traveled Route 66 between Arizona and Michigan. To honor his memory, we’ll be spreading some of his ashes in Arizona, where he once called home. Along the way—and on our journey back—we’ll be making plenty of stops for sightseeing and adventure.
Nick and I have pretty different approaches when it comes to travel—especially planning. He’s the “go wherever the wind takes us” type, while I prefer a more structured approach. I’m not about scheduling every hour or minute, but I do like to have a rough plan in place. Spreadsheets and map pinpoints are my thing, while Nick’s all about hitting the road and pulling over whenever something catches his eye. It definitely makes for an interesting balance on our trips!
One thing that's set in stone is that we’re going to drive at least halfway to Arizona on the first day of our trip, which will likely put us somewhere in Oklahoma. Then the following day driving the rest of the way to Arizona.
